Take 3, Day 35 – Lazy pupae and more larvae

by NJ Ant FanPosted on August 29, 2020August 29, 2020
Brown Eyed Girl and her cocooned pupae, and lazy pupae

When I checked Brown Eyed Girl on day 35, I noticed some lazy pupae had arrived. Lazy pupae, as I like to call them, are development trackers because as they develop, I can see how far they are into their current life stage, pupae.

Mother Ant and her eggs and larvae

Upon checking mother ant, I noticed she had moved her brood. She just seems to be very picky about where to place her brood on the cotton.

When I looked closely at these two queens, I noticed that Micro Chicken has a larger gaster than Mother Ant. I think the difference in the gaster sizes is because Micro Chicken did not move her brood so much, so she has more energy to tend to her brood than Mother Ant.

When I checked Micro Chicken, she had quite a few more larvae than last week. I hope that one or both of these queens has pupae next week. Other than that, there is not much to say about them right now.
