After Onetenna died, you probably wished that I had a new Tapinoma queen, or “tapees” as I call them. Well, the wait is now over, as roughly a week ago, I found this queen in my driveway. This queen is another T. sessile and has six eggs. Unlike her deceased predecessor, this new queen is a lot calmer, probably because she isn’t injured. She will probably be much more predictable and easy to care for, as she is much more aware of her surroundings thanks to her managing to retain both antennae.

In this image, which shows this queen’s brood, I noticed a disturbing orange line on her body. For a moment, I thought it was a fatal injury of some kind, but then I realized it was just a leg that had internally reflected the light from my camera! Once I knew it was a false alarm, I put her away to tend to her young in peace.
Would you like me to name her Twotenna, if you do, Could you please let me know? See you all next week with Moar ant shtuff!
