Nylanderia nanitics

Nylanderia queen ant with first nanitic
A Nylanderia faisonensis queen ant with her first nanitic.

Yesterday, I decided to see if this Nylanderia queen I caught on April 23rd had any nanitics. As expected, she did. I was able to count two to three nanitics in the nest. As these nanitics are only a couple of days old, their exoskeletons aren’t fully hardened, meaning feeding them today would be risky. Now that this queen has her first workers, I will attempt to grow her colony as much as possible before winter sets in.
