Take 4, Day 116 – Nanitic Unfolding!

by NJ Ant FanPosted on December 6, 2020December 6, 2020

On Friday, I took an awesome video of the Pavement Princess and her nanitic unfolding her second nanitic! This was the second time I had seen this, the first time was Take 3 Day 63. They also have lots of larvae, a small egg pile, and one pupa. The queen and her nanitic to over 2 hours to unfold the second nanitic!

The entire colony with the garbage to the right of the colony.

There was also a garbage pile, which I removed during the unfolding process, but the ants didn’t really care. I removed it by sticking a moist Q – tip end into the test tube, removed the garbage, and then I took a dry end and dried the area so the ants would not get stuck.

Here is the awesome video.
