Take 2, Day 7 – One week later – new brood

by NJ Ant FanPosted on July 18, 2020July 18, 2020
Ant with eggs
One of the queens with BROOD
Another queen with BROOD

When I checked the five queens on day 7, two were dead, one was alive but with no brood, and these two did have brood. The queen with the mite is one of my two dead queens. These two surviving queens each only have two eggs at the moment, but I should see more soon. These queens are not the species that my first queens were, they’re both the wrong colors, and they’re the wrong sizes.

Choose your favorite name

I even have interactive name voting polls for both of these queens. VOTING CONTINUES UNTIL DAY 14! The name Scar Smile came from the fact that the larger queen’s wing scars form a somewhat creepy smile on the back of her thorax.

What's your favorite name for the larger queen?

  • Scar Smile (55%, 6 Votes)
  • Red Star (27%, 3 Votes)
  • Orange Star (18%, 2 Votes)

Total Voters: 11
