When I checked the queen ants on day 42, in at least one of my test tubes, I saw pupae, which indicates workers will arrive very soon! The ants have been on the larval stage for about two weeks, so I’m guessing that in two weeks workers will finally arrive. They are doing well, so no worries.
The reason I know the form marked by the arrow is a pupa is that it has an odd shape unlike the jellybean shape of the larvae. I can even see the gaster of the pupa. A gaster is a term for an ant butt. I can also see one of the eyes of the pupa. Next week, there will probably be more pupae, and these early pupae will be darker in color which will make them easier to see.
