Hello, nanitic!
Temnothorax curvispinosus queen ant with brood
The queen with her brood.

In late June, I caught a Temnothorax queen at the edge of the garage. After catching her, I put her in a nice and cozy test tube nest, and a few days later, she laid her first eggs. I forgot about this queen for a time, but she continued to develop well. Eventually, I saw a pupa in the nest and knew a nanitic might not be too far off. Fast forward to this morning, and I finally saw the queen’s first nanitic.
