On December 31st, 2022, I was in Lismore, Australia, when I found a Myrmecia nigrocincta worker foraging among some grass. While it didn’t seem to mind me photographing it, I had to be extra careful because this species can jump, and I didn’t want to know what a bite or a sting felt like. Fortunately, the ant didn’t feel provoked, or at least not enough to attack. Three lovely photos later, I was satisfied, so I left.
