Take 3, Day 70 – Are you kidding me? More moving

by NJ Ant FanPosted on October 4, 2020October 4, 2020
Still no pupae

When I checked Mother Ant and Micro Chicken, neither had a single pupa. This is disappointing because they must brumate soon, and they’re running out of time.

Brown Eyed Girl pre-move

Brown Eyed Girl is undergoing her first move, in this case, into a new test tube. This move is necessary because the ants will need to brumate (i.e ant hibernate) soon. The foil in the photo is covering her new test tube.

Brumation is the dormant period for reptiles, ants, and other cold-blooded animals. during this time, the ants can’t move because of a lack of heat needed for the bio-chemical processes allowing them to move.
