Winter Ant queens – More eggs

by NJ Ant FanPosted on May 18, 2023May 18, 2023
Winter ant queen with eggs
One of the queens next to the brood. There are eight eggs in total.

When I decided to look at my two winter ant queens (Prenolepis Imparis) again, I noticed they had a few more eggs. Aside from the additional eggs, I also saw that both queens are now going physogastric, confirming that both queens are fertile. Unfertilized queens will not become physogastric, so this is great to see. I will Be leaving For Australia on April 27th, so I will not be posting until after I return. Once I return, I will see how these two queens are doing since I will unlikely get more Winter ant queens this year.
