On November 12th, I was walking with mom, and I spotted this random Brachymyrmex depilis queen ant. Normally, queen ants never emerge in November, but due to warmer-than-usual temperatures, this queen appeared. Because of how late in the year it was, over a month past the end of queen season, and attempts by this queen to take off into the air, the chances that a male ant successfully fertilized this ant were astronomically low. Therefore, I placed it among some grass and moved on.
